Abstract
In this paper, a Prioritized Quality of Service-Aware Downlink Scheduling Algorithm (PQoS-Aware DSA) is proposed to increase the performance of Guaranteed Bit-Rate (GBR) and Non-Guaranteed Bit-Rate (NGBR) traffics. The proposed scheme uses channel status to determine the allocation of resources to all User-Equipments (UEs) at each Time Transmission Interval (TTI). It also introduces a delay control mechanism that improves the transmission rate of varying traffic classes, by considering their Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, which in turn, improves the average throughput. The benchmark and the proposed schemes were implemented using the Vienna LTE system-level simulator. The results show that the PQoS-Aware DSA improves the average throughput of both GBR and NGBR traffics by 12.83% and 27.12% respectively.
