Abstract
This paper investigates the effect of Electric Vehicle (EV) penetration on the peak shaving implementation of microgrids. A Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) system is modeled in a Microgrid to be the case study for further investigation. The contribution of the energy storages available in the renewable energy resources as well as the V2G systems are optimized to minimize the emissions and the cost of the daily microgrid operation. Real data is used to model the PV and V2G contributions in the 24-hour simulations. The results confirm improvement in the power profile of the microgrid after the implementation of the proposed peak shaving strategy.
