Abstract
This study proposes an impedance control scheme for suppressing the magnetic field intensity in inductive power transfer systems. Accordingly, we introduce a circuit topology with a variable reactor based on a class-D inverter for maintaining reactance and suppressing magnetic field intensity. The coupling coefficient, which is required for the resistance control, is estimated by measuring the DC voltage applied to the variable reactor without additional components. Experimental results indicate that the load impedance obtained by the proposed scheme can suppress the magnetic field intensity by 16.8% with only a 0.4% decrease in the power transmission efficiency.
