Abstract
In this paper, a discrete time feedback strategy for the control of a DC-DC buck power converter is presented. For the design of the controller, a nonlinear control technique based on differential algebraic methods is applied. The resulting controller produces an input-output linear stable system. Two main aspects have to be highlighted from the approach presented here: firstly, a nonlinear discrete-time model for the buck power converter is used; and secondly, an inductor current observer (estimator) with linear error dynamic is implemented, eliminating the need for a series resistor.
