Abstract
With the increasing penetration of wind power, the accurate evaluation of available inertia in wind farm (WF) has been paid much attention. In this paper, a Copula-based evaluation method for the available inertia of WF is proposed, which considers the difference of wind speed and rotor speed of each wind turbine. The kernel density function is applied to model the wind speed and rotor speed. To obtain the conditional distribution function of the rotor speed, an optimal Copula model accurately describing the correlation between the wind speed and the rotor speed is developed. Based on the mathematical model between the rotor speed and the available inertia, the confidence interval of the WF available inertia is obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed available inertia evaluation method is verified by a WF located in southeast China.
