Abstract
The present study examines the characteristics of flow produced by two-stage electrohydrodynamic (EHD) gas pumps with electrodes mounted in different orientation. The electrodes are grouped in two and mounted on the two opposite walls facing each other. The emitting electrodes are flush mounted on the channel walls so that the air flow produced is similar to that of a wall jet. Three electrode configurations are investigated for their effectiveness in enhancing the volume flow rate as well as reducing the power requirement. The results are compared with those reported in the previous studies with various electrode configurations to determine which performs the best. Through the performance assessment, the present results can provide useful information for practical applications of EHD technology.
