Abstract
Drones are becoming increasingly versatile and used in many application fields. Inspired by migratory birds’ flight formations, this paper proposes algorithms for leader identification, adjacent unit identification, flight direction confirmation, and reference coordinate generation. The proposed method’s effectiveness in creating adaptive and scalable drone formations, improving upon traditional Leader-Follower models is preliminarily verified. The approach is shown to possess flexible formation changes and adapts to different tasks.
