Abstract
In this paper, a wideband millimeter wave substrate integrated waveguide antenna based on coupling feed is presented. The antenna consists of two parts: the bottom cavity-backed coupling feed and the upper antenna patch. In order to suppress the gap backward radiation and improve the antenna gain, a backward grooved SIW cavity is designed. The width slot on the upper rectangular antenna patch expands the relative bandwidth of the antenna for 17 % to 27.7 %. The antenna works at 46.7 - 61.7 GHz. The maximum simulated radiation gain ranges from 6.89 dBi to 7.52 dBi, with good radiation characteristics.
