Abstract
In this letter, a novel dual-beam microstrip leaky-wave antenna (LWA) loading symmetric stubs is proposed. The symmetric rectangular patches are designed to refrain from the separation of space harmonics. Consequently, there will be more space harmonic modes appear in the leaky-wave radiation region. This structure ensures that m = -1 and m = -2 modes are excited simultaneously. Therefore, dual-beam, in the far-field region, will be generated by the backward and forward propagation wave of these two modes. The presented design provides 45° scanning range from -64° to -19° for backward, and 24° in forward region from 23° to 47°. The region where return loss is less than -10 dB is from 14.17 to 21.53 GHz.
