Abstract
The authors have proposed the novel concept of a sliding system involving an antiwear probe with a groove and oil lubrication for probe-based archive memories. The system has been proven to endure a meter-scale probe slide, not only in terms of electric contact stability but also in regards to the readout resolution degradation of recorded patterns. This demonstrates the possibility of bringing probe-based memories into actual products used in data archiving, which requires limited time data access.
