Abstract
This paper describes the system design process and implementation of a high integration ARM based microcontroller designed specifically for the portable computing market. Some of the key technical challenges of this market are to provide high performance, low cost, and low power consumption. The paper describes the system design process undertaken for this device, highlighting the application requirements and how the bus partitioning was proved using system simulations. Finally the problems and benefits of integrating Intellectual Property (IP) from several sources into one simulation and design environment are briefly discussed.
