Abstract
In this article, a compact multi-port circularly polarized (CP) multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with a reflector ring is presented. The reflector ring used in this work reduces the interference between the CP radiation from closely spaced single antenna elements and restores the 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW). Besides restoring the 3-dB ARBW the reflector ring also serves the purpose of ensuring equal reference voltage in the proposed MIMO antenna. The proposed antenna efficiently radiates CP waves for 5–5.5 GHz band and has satisfactory diversity performance. A prototype of the proposed MIMO antenna has been fabricated and measured successfully.
