Abstract
With the arrival of the “next normal,” collaboration tools are pivotal to stay competitive. While distributed software development has long been an accepted, and even embraced, practice, Covid-19 and the subsequent dramatic shift to work from home has placed collaboration tools more central to the development effort than ever before (see “Industry Survey on Impacts of the “Next Normal”). Suddenly, no one can do without such tools. For some, this means primarily engaging with Zoom or Slack to coordinate with team members. For others, it means an advanced use of Miro or GitLab to deeply engage in complex development activities.
