Abstract
Free space optics system is necessary to align the optical axes of opposing transmitter and receiver placed hundreds meters apart. Instead of conducting field experiments, the authors have carried out computer simulations of adjusting laser beam to transmit optical signals far. Optical system model of FSO transmitter is constructed, and laser beam profile is calculated by manipulating position of contained lenses. It indicates the distributed intensity of laser beam transmitted 100 m to the receiver location. The Gaussian beam formula is applied to the simulation results to estimate positional error of the arrived beam. Sensor feedback is finally conducted to successfully correct beam hitting point by steering transmitter lenses.
