Abstract
Starting from the importance of high-voltage fuses on operational safety, this paper presents a study on the behavior of high-voltage fuses during short-circuit current interruption. The key element presented here is the pressure value on the fuses contacts which is commonly ignored in favor of middle element pressure. It was experimentally proven that this pressure is much higher and it is an important value for the designers. The theoretical bases and the structure of the test scheme are presented, as well as design and dimensioning elements of the high-voltage fuse components, including numerical simulations performed in the Matlab/Simulink environment.
