Abstract
This paper proposes a grid simulator with Phase-Amplitude Compensation (PAC). The system allows independent and flexible adjustment of specific harmonic controller parameters to simulate abnormal grid conditions (e.g., short-circuit faults, high harmonic contamination, and sudden frequency changes). With the proposed phase and amplitude compensation loops, the tracking error can be effectively reduced not only in the control of the fundamental frequency components, but in the high-frequency harmonic components. Compared with the conventional grid simulator, it can more flexibly adjust the fundamental and harmonic components of the output voltages. With the proposed method, users can modularly add fundamental and harmonic controllers to the system according to the required needs, independently control the required voltage harmonics, and still simulate common power grid fault situations. Moreover, when designing a harmonic controller, it is sufficient to design it for low-frequency signals, which greatly reduces the complexity. Finally, the proposed control method is validated by measurements of different abnormal power-grid simulations.
