Abstract
Mitigating magnetic fields in compact and limited spaces is a demanding task that requires the application of effective measures. A stringent regulation of magnetic field exposure combined with already installed underground cables in an operating power plant imposes severe conditions for mitigation measures. This paper presents some measures applied in a power plant to mitigate the magnetic field created by high-voltage underground cables. Passive compensation in the cable ducts evinced as a very effective mitigation measure with minimum intervention to the existing installation. Magnetic field simulations and calculations to assess each mitigation measure are presented and described in depth.
