Abstract
A hybrid-type cryogenic permanent-magnet undulator (CPMU) with taper option with an 18 mm period length (CUT18) is currently under construction for the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS) Phase-II beamline. The development of a dedicated control system for this CUT18, has been ongoing since 2020. The control system is based on the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) architecture and leverages the Ethernet Control Automation Technology (EtherCAT) framework. The core components of this control system comprises motors equipped with encoders for gap/taper adjustment, trimming power supplies for corrector magnets, ion pumps, and BA gauges for vacuum system management. Additionally, it integrates resistance temperature detectors (RTD), thermocouples, and four heaters for environmental monitoring and precise temperature control of the magnet arrays. Moreover, Safety interlocks have been implemented to ensure the reliable operation of the drives. This report will provide a comprehensive overview of the features and advantages offered by the CUT18 control system.
