Abstract
Summary form only given.Volume holographic data storage holds the potential of storing data at a volumetric density of V//spl lambda//sup 3/, where V is the volume of the storage material and /spl lambda/ the wavelength of light. We have expanded upon our earlier demonstration of the pixel-matching of holographic data pages, reaching high areal density by confining the databearing object beam to a small aperture and by multiplexing a large number of holograms. A novel shift-compensation algorithm was developed ro relax the magnification, distortion, and alignment tolerances of holographic data storage.
