Abstract
This paper presents an antenna-integrated-module (AiM) design concept that integrates 16 Renesas beamforming integrated circuits (BFICs F6522) with 64 patch antennae. The simulated results of the 64-element (8x8) phased array demonstrates beam-steering capability of 360°/50°~90° in azimuth/elevation, maximum EIRP of 20 dBW, and GOT exceeding -2dB/K. To validate the design concept, a 2x2 antenna module is first implemented to experimentally investigate the radiation characteristics, showing well agreement with the simulated results.
