Abstract
In this work, a modulation proposal is presented in combination with the predictive control strategy applied to the three-phase Shunt Active Power Filter based on 7-level cascade H-bridge converters, with the aim of compensating the harmonics of the electric power grid. The proposed technique uses the voltage vectors in the space vector from a system of three voltage levels, so that the same selected vectors are extrapolated for the following voltage levels. The modulation technique combines the advantages of space vector (SV) and phase shift PWM modulation (PSPWM), plus PI control with a suboptimal solution to balance DC-link capacitor voltages. The effectiveness of the modulation technique with the proposed control approach is evaluated through simulations using Matlab/Simulink. The results obtained show the effectiveness of the proposed method for the elimination of harmonics and reduction of reactive power levels.
