Abstract
This paper describes an active filter with three 9-level cascaded H-bridge converters in the delta connection. The control strategy of the proposed active filter is based on a finite control set model predictive control with the support of PQ theory, which analyzes the power grid and calculates active and reactive powers. The information is then used to compensate the reactive power and suppress unsuitable harmonics in the grid current. A detailed simulation study verifies the proper function of the proposed control system and of the power converter topology.
