Abstract
Refractory metals such as titanium or zirconium nitride have long been noted for their similarities to noble metals. In ultrafast spectroscopic measurements, however, they show substantially strong electron-phonon coupling, only apparent spectroscopically near intraband transitions, and large lattice heating.
