Abstract
This paper presents a systematic literature review to establish the current state of the art of photovoltaic systems in self-consumption mode and seeks to tailor the evaluations to the Ecuadorian context. It pays special attention to how these evaluations fit into the unique dynamics of the Ecuadorian context. Structured around six pivotal research inquiries encompassing tariff incentives, architectural infrastructure, grid interconnection, technical-economic viability, simulation and automation, and solar radiation analysis, this study meticulously analyses and correlates a substantial compendium of over 70 publications. Augmenting the scholarly discourse, the research culminates in the presentation of three select case studies, offering empirical substantiation of the techno-economic feasibility underpinning the deployment and operationalization of PV systems. Derived from these in-depth inquiries, the study’s conclusions not only encapsulate the current state of the field but also provide a launching pad for future investigations related to grid-connected PV systems within the distinctive Ecuadorian milieu.
