Abstract
This paper presents the performance of the VMWare ESXi hypervisor through the filesystem performance testing procedures. To measure the performances we used the Filebench benchmark tool. As a guest operating system, we have chosen Linux Ubuntu 18.04. All the tests are performed under the same conditions. The tests were first conducted on a native operating system, and then also on one, two, and three virtual machines. Finally, we compared the results of performances between the native operating system and ESXi hypervisor environment. We expected the lower performances when using the system with ESXi and that the performance drop will not be significant in the case when running only one virtual machine.
