Abstract
Due to a rapid spread of COVID-19, air passengers’ safety has emerged as the main issue for the aviation industry. Study shows that passengers having no symptoms can act as a silent career to spread the virus. Pathogen mitigation inside airplanes will be required for safe travel. Individual studies describe various mitigation techniques that include exposure of UVC light 1 , ozone exposure 2 , and presence of a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) to generate radicals that will kill pathogens 3 . In this study, three techniques (High-power LED, dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) Plasma, and Ozone exposure) are combined in a single system that is being investigated to meet the aviation industry challenge of controlling onboard pathogens.
