Abstract
The Scanning Microwave Radiometer (SMR) onboard Chinese HY-2B satellite launched on 25 October 2018, is a multi-frequency conical-scanning microwave sensor, which operates on 6.925, 10.7, 18.7, 23.8 and 37 GHz. The SMR has the capability to measure accurate sea surface temperature, sea surface wind speed, total columnar water vapour and cloud liquid water simultaneously. In this paper, using an optimal estimation method, we retrieved these four geophysical parameters and compared the SMR retrievals with the WindSat products. The results show that the SMR performs well in the inversion of all the four physical parameters, which results in a good agreement with WindSat products.
