Abstract
the implementation of e-learning technology, as well as the use of the gamification principles are one of the actively developing directions of modern education in higher school. During the study, the authors conducted an experiment to assess the effectiveness of gamification in e-learning conditions. The results of the experiment showed the students’ satisfaction with the educational process technology, as well as improving the level of performance, while teachers noted the high complexity of training materials, as well as support the educational process with the gamification use. As a solution to the problem, it was proposed to design and further implement a plugin for the learning management system MOODLE, which provides ready-made components, dynamics and mechanics for knowledge assessment using the gamification principles. Analysis of existing models showed the presence on the site moodle.org plugin with similar functionality - Level up! Gamification. However, this plugin does not allow to fully implement the game situation, build a game story, as well as to monitor in detail the formation of individual knowledge, skills and abilities in the development of specific students’ competencies. In this regard, the authors decided to design their own gamification plugin for LMS MOODLE - Learning Gamification. The article describes the design stage of the plugin using a unified modeling language-UML. The authors identified the requirements for the plugin, designed in the form of a use case diagram, a logical structure is presented–a static structure diagram, as well as an example of an activity diagram describing the student’s work with the plugin.
