Abstract
Fog Computing has revolutionized edge computing by bringing computation and storage capabilities closer to the network edge. However, the energy constraints faced by mobile devices in fog computing environments pose significant challenges. Quick energy draining of mobile devices is particularly troublesome, impacting their usability and longevity. To address this issue, this paper proposes an innovative approach to adjust the transmission power of mobile devices in dense fog-enabled environments. By offering four power levels, we aim to prolong the battery lifespan of mobile devices while ensuring task offtoading capabilities to fog servers. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed transmission power adjustment mechanism. Lower transmission powers result in prolonged mobile device operation and slower energy consumption rates, positively impacting battery life. Mitigating the quick energy-draining problem in fog computing holds promising implications for sustainability and usability in resource-constrained environments. Further research and real-world implementations are needed for validation and optimization.
