Abstract
The paper explores the increasing demand of processing information efficiently and effectively. It uses email as a case study and considers the challenges of using IT to access, store, and utilise knowledge within email and explores a selection of the tools and techniques that are currently available. It provides a much needed outline of the issues that still need to be addressed by research in the more general area of information processing.
