Abstract
L1 0 -FeNi hard magnetic ribbons were fabricated by annealing Fe-Ni-based amorphous alloys. The phase transition mechanism and the origin of L1 0 -FeNi during the annealing process had been analyzed. By adding Si into the low stability Fe-Ni-P amorphous alloy, the resulted coercivity had been greatly enhanced to 912 Oe. The addition of Si was also found stabilizing the L1 0 -FeNi since the high Si content samples could withstand 400 °C for prolonged annealing time without any deterioration of magnetic hardness. The reason of such beneficial effects would be discussed. By exploiting such composition design strategy, the recent progress has raised the coercivity beyond 1100 Oe.
