Abstract
Over the past years applications of signals-of-opportunity (SoOP) for monitoring local and global environmental parameters have been widely investigated. In particular, recent studies have shown that Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS-R) can be utilized for soil moisture retrieval. This paper proposes a method for retrieving surface-to-root-zone profiles of soil moisture (RZSM) from the Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) over-land observations, which are in the form of delay-Doppler maps (DDMs) [1] .
