This study focuses on the analysis and discussion of public irrigation decision support systems (IDSS) in Italy, considering their various futures such as water requirement estimation models, biophysical parameters, spatial and temporal resolutions, accessibility, and so on. Additionally, a comprehensive discussion on the criticisms and shortcomings of agrometeorological networks and infrastructures behind these IDSS is presented. The aim is to provide insights into the strengths and weaknesses of these systems, paving the way for improvements and advancements in irrigation management practices.
