Speech emotion recognition is one of the important concepts of all the recognition methods used till now. To know more about the process behind it, prior knowledge of how it is handled is required. This paper describes different methods for speech emotion recognition. Though the current target (an efficient method for recognizing emotion in speech) has brought many challenges, there were several methods introduced for the recognition in various situations. In this paper, some of the previously proposed methods for different situations like concealed signals, whispered signals, as well as noisy signals, were discussed and suggested for the researchers. A brief knowledge on other techniques, which use Convolution Neural Network, Pattern Recognition Neural Network, Spiking Neural Network, and Deep Neural Network for their recognition are elucidated.
