Abstract
In this paper, we have emphasized on the need and importance of establishing Device-to-Device (D2D) communication based prototyping testbeds and also discussed the set up and working of the D2D prototyping testbed established in our lab using SDRs, the first of its kind in Pakistan. We have demonstrated the preliminary functioning of a SDR-based testbed using LabVIEW Communications and the Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) hardware platform. Lastly, using RTL-SDR and USRP RIO SDR devices, we have established single-hop communication without using any infrastructure and the Base Station (BS), analyzed the performance. We have also obtained and analyzed results of single-hop D2D communication through OmNET++ simulation.
