Abstract
In Colombia, Law 1715/2014 addresses the issue of non-conventional renewable energy sources. It identifies them and defines its promotion and use, but dont limit the renewable sources to the ones mentioned in the law, but instead in a given moment it is possible to consider different sources of generation. It additionally establishes what tools are more suitable for these renewable energy sources in order to promote investment initiatives and R+D+I strategies. It is important to mention that these tools come together with a series of private and state actions which could generate benefits for both parties. For the government, it could represent economic, environmental and energy security with different sources of energy generation.
