Abstract
This paper presents a 35 GHz continuous tunable phase shifter for phase array system. Composite right/left hand (CRLH) T-line has been utilized for designing the phase shifter, which was fabricated in 65 nm CMOS technology with an area of 0.42×0.39 mm 2 (0.04 mm 2 for CRLH core) excluding pads. The measured results show that at 35 GHz it achieves a 0.7 dB average gain and maximum gain variation less than 3 dB. The DC power consumption is 9.4 mW at 1.2 V supply voltage with input P1dB reaching −5 dBm. The phase shifting range is more than 110° with a linear tuning in RH region and LH region respectively at 35 GHz, which can be utilized with a quadrupler together at LO side to realize the whole phase tuning range of 360° at 140 GHz.
