Abstract
The goal of the “dual carbon” has led to the rapid development of the new power system with renewable energy. A high proportion of renewable energy connected to the grid through power electronic conversion devices will have an impact on the frequency response and inertia support of the power grid, posing threats and challenges. As a flexible regulation resource, Energy storage can play an important role in frequency regulation. This paper proposes a hybrid energy storage planning method considering energy storage participation in frequency support. The dynamic frequency response process of the power system with energy storage is analyzed, and frequency safety constraints are given. The location and capacity of energy storage are planned with the goal of minimizing system operating costs and energy storage investment costs. The effectiveness of the proposed constraints and energy storage hybrid planning is verified by an improved IEEE 14-bus example, which shows that the proposed method can reasonably plan the location of energy storage, improve frequency safety during system operation, and promote the accommodation of renewable energy.
