Abstract
The elevator speed limiter is the limiting device of elevator car speed, which is the last line of defense for elevator Overspeed protection. The rope sheave of the speed limiter is one of its essential parts. Replacing the material of the speed limiter will not guarantee the safety of the speed limiter. This paper compares the equivalent force, total deformation, and elastic deformation of rope sheaves under different materials by the finite element method. The rope sheaves were modeled using SolidWorks, and static stress analysis was performed by Ansys Workbench. The state of rope sheaves with different materials under the same working conditions is analyzed. Verify the effect of changing the material on the speed limiter and get the most suitable alternative material by careful consideration.
