Protective Effects of Ellagic Acid on Testicular Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rats

Abstract
Objective:This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of ellagic acid on testicular ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats.Materials and Methods:Twenty-one Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham, ischemia/reperfusion (I/R), I/R + ellagic acid (EA). All animals underwent left scrotal exploration. In all groups except the sham group, the left testes were rotated 720 degrees clockwise for 3 h and 3 h reperfusion. 10 mg/kg ellagic acid was administered intraperitoneally to the I/R+E group before reperfusion. Then, the left orchiectomy was performed.
