Abstract
Split hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) was used to test the dynamic property of sandstone under different impact speeds and wavelengths. The results showed that for the same length of impact wave, the greater of the impact velocity could result in the greater the stress amplitude of the incident wave, transmission wave and reflect wave.Under the same impact velocity, the amplitudes of incident wave was approximately the same, and the amplitude of the reflected wave and transmitted wave increases with increasing of the wavelength. The stress amplitude and strain rate are linearly dependent on the dynamic peak strength. The magnitude of the stress amplitude and the maximum strain of the sandstone are exponentially related.Stress wave length and stress amplitude are the main factors affecting the damage of sandstone.Basing on the proposing research,a damage model of sandstone is proposed. The error of the sandshoe damage calculated by this formula is in a reasonable range.
