Mechanism of the anti-influenza functions of Baidu San based on network pharmacology and molecular docking

Abstract
Introduction: Baidu San mainly treats viral colds and relieves muscle pain. They are widely used in clinical practice, but their therapeutic effects and anti-inflammatory mechanisms against influenza are unknown. Methods: Active compounds and targets were mined with the help of TCMSP platform, OMIM database and Gene Cards database. Protein-protein interaction networks and component-target networks were established to screen core targets and components, and GO and KEGG enrichment analyses were performed in the DAVID database and visualized by the Microbiology Letter Platform. Finally, the binding affinity between potential targets and active compounds was assessed by molecular docking. Results: Baidu San is effective in the treatment of influenza. network pharmacology studies have shown that TNF, AKT1 and EGFR are the core targets of action of Baidu San in the treatment of influenza. Luteolin, quercetin and kaempferol are the key compounds. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses suggest that the mechanism of action of Baidu San is related to antiviral, anti-inflammatory and modulation of immune function are closely related. Conclusion: This study highlights the potential of combining in vitro experiments and network pharmacology as a promising strategy to explore the potential mechanism of TCMs.
