Abstract
The main goal of this work is to reduce the liquid/gaseous nitrogen (LN2 / GN2) waste on thermal-vacuum space tests. In this paper, we present the results of a feasibility investigation of the optimal control techniques in this issue. It is found that it is possible to reduce the overall consumption by approximately 5% during thermal balance/thermal cycling space test campaigns. Therefore, optimal control techniques improve the best practices on those activities.
