Abstract
The Covid-19 is spreading too rapidly and broadly for the authorities across the global to bring it under control. It is getting more complicated as there has not been any cure but social distancing to control the pandemic. This led to the decision of Vietnamese Government to implement a very strict measure that required the closure of all schools nationwide. Synchronous e-learning (S-EL) was then employed to ensure the teaching and learning activities to run as scheduled. The decision was made when most of the universities in Vietnam had insufficient preparation for this mode of learning. This paper attempted to provide an objective evaluation of S-EL implementation among public universities in Vietnam. Also, the factors affecting the learning effectiveness were revealed and the factors that students would like their institutions to consider were pointed out as well.
