Abstract
Since 1992, Lake Land College (LLC), in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), has employed a nontraditional approach to an ongoing need within the State of Illinois for Quality Control / Quality Assurance training. LLC's Quality Control / Quality Assurance initiative utilizes the educational and training resources of a rural community college to fulfill a need within the Illinois quality management program.
This paper will discuss the development and implementation of LLC's Quality Control / Quality Assurance training program from the initial inquiries about a potential program at the College in 1992 to the success it has maintained today. The information will be detailed using a chronological approach and will focus on academic, industrial, and governmental collaborative success. The outlining of this triangulation will provide a roadmap for the development of similar programs in the area of Hot Mix Asphalt Construction: Certification and Accreditation Programs.
