Abstract
Virulence is the degree of disease a microorganism can cause.Characteristics of the host, like age, sex, and general health, might affect virulence. To cause disease a microorganism has to first adhere to the surface of a host cell and invade the host, then multiply, and evade the host's defenses.Disease symptoms are often caused by tissue damage caused by the pathogen or the host's own defenses.
