Abstract
Malnutrition is prevalent in patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and confers a poor prognosis. 1.1% amino acid dialysate has been documented to improve protein malnutrition in CAPD. Prior studies exhibited progressive increase plasma amino acid levels and improving nutritional indices after amino acid dialysate one to two exchanges for one day in a few weeks. The suggested monitoring parameters in the period of amino acid dialysate use include blood urea, potassium, phosphate and carbon dioxide levels.
