Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 8 weeks of moderate-to-low intensity lower limb resistance training on the athletic performance of high school compound archers. Nineteen high school compound archers were recruited for this study. The research was divided into pre- and post-tests, with the total score of 15 arrows shot from a distance of 18 meters outdoors serving as the test content. Participants underwent 8 weeks of moderate-to-low intensity lower limb resistance training, consisting of 3 sessions per week, with each session comprising 3 sets of 4 exercises targeting the hip abductor-adductor muscle group and ankle dorsiflexion-plantarflexion. Post-tests were conducted after the training period. Data parameters were first examined for normal distribution using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. For normally distributed items, a paired sample t-test was used, while non-normally distributed items were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The statistical significance level was set at α = 0.05. The results of the study showed significant improvements in arrow score, aiming trajectory stability score, and aiming time among high school compound archers after 8 weeks of moderate-to-low intensity lower limb resistance training (p < .05). In conclusion, moderate-to-low intensity lower limb resistance training can enhance aiming stability, reduce aiming time, and improve athletic performance in high school compound archers.
