Glomerulonephritis is one of the common etiologies of kidney failure. Meanwhile, malignany is also one of the leading causes of death in Taiwan. Several studies over the past decades have shown the close relationship between glomerulonephritis and malignancy. Malignancy is one of the important secondary causes of glomerulonephritis, especially membranous nephropathy. Different types of glomerulonephritis are associated with different kinds of malignancy. The exact pathogenesis between malignancy and glomerulonephritis remains unclear. However, being alert to the coexistence of malignancy in patients with glomerulonephritis may be beneficial for early diagnosis and treatment of malignancies.
