Abstract
The aim of this project is to check the feasibility of recovering the waste heat from No.1 sinter plant and to choose a suitable recovering system for it. To evaluate the exhaust heat quantity, the thermal energy balance of No.1 sinter plant has been firstly analyzed. Then according to the adoption experience of several foreign steel works, five possible recovery methods were qualitatively compared, raw material preheating, combustion air preheating, steam producing, electricity generating and sinter product reheating in a holding furnace. After comparison, combustion air preheating and sinter product reheating were chosen as further planning object. The planning object was then divided into three cases: case 1- combustion air preheating only, case 2 - combustion air preheating and sinter reheating in new holding furnace to be installed just after iginition furnace, case 3 - combustion air preheating and sinter reheating in new holding furnace to be installed at middle section of sinter machine. The feasibility study including the specification of basic design data, the comparison on the related economic and technical issues and the influence on the sinter quality, etc ., for the three cases has been finished. The conclusion for this study is that the case 3 for recovering exhaust heat in No.1 sinter cooler is recommended and the pay-back period is estimated to be within four years.
